Istanbul, Türkiye — February 2026 — Youth Break the Boundaries successfully hosted the Istanbul Youth Summit (IYS) 2026, an international leadership program that brought together delegates from many countries. The program not only provided academic learning opportunities but also created a global collaborative space for young people to grow and develop.
The summit took place on 9–12 February 2026 at Golden City Tulip Hotel Avenue in Istanbul. Throughout the program, participants attended leadership sessions, interactive discussions, and cultural exchanges with international experts from various strategic sectors. As a result, the experience became more comprehensive and relevant to current global challenges.
One of the keynote speakers who delivered an inspiring session was Khadeeja Ather, a Multidisciplinary Designer and People Experience Manager at DigyCorp. Her presence extended beyond delivering a keynote speech, as she also served as an International Social Project Judge, mentoring participants while they developed their social innovation ideas.
Khadeeja is widely recognized as a professional working at the intersection of creative strategy, marketing, and human-centered design. With a background in industrial design, she approaches challenges with a builder’s mindset and a systematic problem-solving perspective.
According to her, innovation only holds value when it meaningfully improves people’s lives. Therefore, every idea should originate from human needs rather than trends or technology alone. This principle became one of the key messages she shared with summit participants.
In addition, Khadeeja actively engages in collaborative spaces where individuals gather to think, build, and learn together. She frequently facilitates workshops and conversations that encourage participation, reflection, and collective problem-solving.
She has also spoken at international platforms such as Friends of Figma, demonstrating her credibility in the design and creative innovation field. These experiences strengthened her ability to bridge theory and practical application for participants.
During the second session led by Khadeeja, participants joined an interactive activity that appeared simple yet insightful. Delegates were asked to draw the process of making toast within two minutes. Although the exercise seemed basic, it carried a powerful learning objective.
Each participant produced a different drawing, revealing that individuals approach problem-solving and thinking processes in unique ways. From this activity, participants realized that innovation emerges from diverse perspectives rather than uniform thinking.
Through this exercise, Khadeeja emphasized that future leaders must appreciate different ways of thinking within a team. Consequently, collaboration can generate more creative and effective solutions.
Beyond creativity, Khadeeja highlighted the importance of identifying root causes of social problems before designing solutions. She explained that many projects fail because they address symptoms rather than underlying issues.
Participants were encouraged to step back and examine social ecosystems more holistically. They learned to identify structural factors influencing challenges, which helped them develop stronger critical thinking and empathy.
According to her, empathy serves as the foundation of impactful social innovation. Without deeply understanding human experiences, solutions risk becoming irrelevant or unsustainable.
Khadeeja stressed that modern leadership requires a combination of logic, creativity, and empathy. Young people cannot rely solely on big ideas; they must also understand the individuals affected by those ideas.
She encouraged participants to build habits of active listening, understanding diverse perspectives, and remaining open to feedback. As a result, leadership becomes more collaborative and inclusive rather than hierarchical.
This approach is highly relevant to today’s global challenges, where complex social issues require interdisciplinary cooperation and shared responsibility.
At the end of her session, Khadeeja delivered a powerful motivational message to participants. She reminded them that being part of an international forum like the Istanbul Youth Summit is a rare opportunity.
She encouraged participants not to doubt their abilities or feel inadequate. Instead, they should use the summit as momentum to transform their future. Participants had the chance to meet diverse individuals, expand networks, and gain new knowledge.
Her message strengthened participants’ confidence and motivation to continue growing beyond the program.
In addition to being a speaker, Khadeeja contributed as an international project judge. In this role, she guided participants in transforming ideas into realistic and impactful initiatives.
She provided insights on implementation strategies, user-centered approaches, and sustainability potential. Consequently, participants gained not only theoretical knowledge but also practical direction for developing their social innovation projects.
This role enhanced the overall learning quality of the Istanbul Youth Summit, as participants received direct mentorship from an experienced international professional.
Khadeeja Ather’s participation in Istanbul Youth Summit 2026 offered a fresh perspective on the relationship between creativity, empathy, and leadership. Through interactive and reflective methods, participants learned that the best innovations always begin with understanding people.
The program organized by Youth Break the Boundaries demonstrated that young generations have significant potential to create meaningful change. However, such change requires collaboration, courage to think differently, and strong empathy.
Ultimately, the Istanbul Youth Summit experience became an important starting point for participants to grow into future leaders who are not only intelligent but also compassionate toward others.
